On December 30th, 1976, Sherry and I first stepped foot in Togo, West Africa. That moment marked the beginning of a lifelong journey that has shaped our hearts, our ministry, and our dreams.
Over the past 49 years, I’ve often awakened from dreams of Togo – its sounds, its smells, its people. And now, a God-sized, heart-humbling, knee-buckling dream has emerged. I feel like Abraham must have felt when God said, “Count the stars… so shall your descendants be.”
Just weeks ago, I stood in the village of Gbagbajakou, where leaders gathered to plead for clean water. A young woman entered, carrying a pan of water from the Mono River—their only source. She placed it in front of me, scooped up a handful, and drank it.
I cried out, “No, please don’t drink that!”
She looked at me and said, “This is what we drink every day.”
That moment broke my heart—and birthed a dream.
I asked our National Director, John Laba, to research how many villages in Togo lack access to clean water. He met with the Ministry of Water and interviewed zone directors across the country. The numbers are staggering:
• 2,450 villages
• Over 2 million people
• No access to clean water
I have a dream:
That every village in Togo will have clean water.
That girls will go to school, not walk miles for dirty water.
That women will thrive through our Prisca Peace Projects.
That churches will offer Living Water—and lives will be transformed.
That a spiritual awakening will rise from the land that prayed for our children.
I recently returned from a two-month ministry trip in Togo. We trained over 250 pastors to equip their churches as strategic centers of village transformation. I witnessed passionate faith and pure-hearted devotion like I’ve rarely seen.
This is a God-sized dream that will harness Africans and Americans alike in full partnership of faith.
At the end of November, we will have Living Water Well Transformation Projects in 26 villages in Togo. How do we go from 26 to 2,450?
