An Update from Papa Rex in Togo:
I was greeted by our entire LPI team this morning at 9 AM. When I entered the meeting room, I was met with warm handshakes and hugs. It was personal and moving.
They began the meeting, as always, with songs of praise, clapping out an African rhythm with which I’ve never been able to sync. It was simple African worship that ushered me into His very presence.
They asked me to share about Sherry. I told them about her last days, her final words, and her desire for me to return to Togo and continue our work in Africa. Then, each team member shared in their own words what Maman Sherry meant to them. It was deeply touching to hear how she had impacted the lives of those she loved so well.
They then prayed for me, and I felt the touch of heaven. After the prayer, I heard reports from our department heads.
Koboyo updated me on the Student Sponsorship program and the two new village schools with 140 students that we just started sponsoring. These schools are located in villages where we have installed Living Water Wells. The people in one of these villages, in partnership with LPI, decided to address the horrible state of their school building. The village community contributed to this project and provided all the labor. We are witnessing community transformation!
I then heard an exciting report about the Prisca Peace Project. It included testimonies from the 50 women who have received loans and how their businesses have grown as a result. They are now providing for their families, which makes their husbands and children happy. They are also giving to the church, which brings joy to the pastors and congregation members. These women are seen in a new light by the people of their villages, as women of worth and respect who are making an impact for Christ and His kingdom. This, in turn, makes the women happy.
We are now selecting 50 new PPP women from three villages where we have Living Water Wells, churches, and community transformation projects. This brings us to a total of 100 dynamic Christ followers who are helping bring SHALOM to their villages through their kingdom businesses.
Finally, the head of our pastor and church training division described the training of six pastors who will receive motorcycles on October 14th, enabling them to travel to hard-to-access villages where we work. He has organized a Gospel of SHALOM training conference in Atakpame next week, where I will be speaking.
I came out of the meeting refreshed and renewed for the work God is doing in Togo and West Africa.
